VARIATIONS - An evening of contemporary
dance with live music
Following the sell-out success
of previous shows Elemental (2007), Touch
(2006) and Spectrum (2005), Cambridge University
Contemporary Dance
Workshop presents Variations, an evening
of exciting, eclectic new contemporary dance performed to
live musical accompaniment. Diverse
dance styles - from classical ballet through contemporary
to hiphop - are used to visualise and interpret a musical
programme that includes
all 21 of Brahms' Hungarian Dances and movements from Franck's
Cello Sonata in A Major. The result is a performance both
visceral and
intelligent, a feast for the eyes, ears, mind and soul. This
unique collaboration of the very best of Cambridge's dancers,
musicians and
choreographers is an artistic event that is simply not to
be missed!

SIN Cru presents Stone
Seeds Unearthed exhibition...
...finding the solid, urban
foundation from which to organically build, develop and grow...
identify - define - trace
- transform - reinterpret
With funding from the Arts
Council and support from Momentum Arts, the "Stone Seeds"
project will work to explore and rediscover the roots of Breakin'.
SIN Cru will travel to New York to work with professional
artists at the heart of the original Hiphop scene, to deepen
and develop practical and theoretical understanding of the
dance form. The primary focus of this project is research
into Breakin' and how its boundaries can be identified,
defined, traced, transformed and reinterpreted by contrast
and fusion with the past and present.
The aims of "Stone
Seeds" are to increase understanding of the foundations
of Breakin', and to encourage greater communication between
the artists to extend and develop Breakin' as an artform,
to develop and train artists, and to explore new possibilities
in approach and technique by expanding the range and practise
of the dancers involved in the project. "Stone Seeds"
will enable us to locate our artistic practice within the
foundations of Breakin' and engage with the roots of Hiphop
culture. This foundation will enable us in the future to use
Breakin' to communicate with other danceforms.

*Reviews:
"With the hip-hop entertainment
of SIN Cru's Stone Seeds at last there
was something like a show, and fulfilling one's expectations
of the genre
the bag of acrobatic tricks was put on display for our appreciation.
There
was eye-catching quickness and some guile in the duets."
- Ben Felsenburg
for The Place
"A male dancer runs
from side to side, flips back and breaks from one
impressive move to another to begin Stone Seeds. With some
humorous
moments and a text based around the notion that the dance
form can solve your problems, this is essentially a preliminary
introduction to break
dancing. Stone Seeds is likeable and entertaining."

between youth and adult, student and mentor. Roots and Wings

eclectic range of music, travelling through the diverse ways
in which Hiphop dance, music and art has taken shape and become
part of all our lives. Featuring performances from DJ Specifik,
